We Give Back To Our
Community

Trails teach us that hard things end and views are worth it. We hike for the community that reminds us we are never alone.

Girls Gone Hiking & AFSP Utah

OUR PARTNERSHIP ——

Girls Gone Hiking has always been about more than the trail. It's about showing up — for each other, for our communities, and for the causes that matter most to the women in this community.

That's why we're proud to partner with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Utah Chapter — the nation's largest suicide prevention organization — to hike, walk, and raise funds for a cause that touches every one of us.

Mental health doesn't stay on the trail. And neither do we.

Proud AFSP Utah Partner - 2025

WHY WE PARTNER ——

Many of us in this community have faced our own battles, or lost someone we love. This cause isn’t abstract — it’s deeply personal to who we are.

Mental health is personal

The same connection we feel on the trail — being seen, supported, not alone — is exactly what AFSP works to create for people in crisis.

Community saves lives

AFSP funds research, advocates for policy change, and trains people to recognize the signs. Every dollar our community raises goes directly toward that work.

We can actually make a difference

GGH has always been a space where women talk honestly. That same openness — bringing mental health into the light — is exactly what this partnership is about.

Stigma ends with conversation

“Whether you are on the trail or back in your personal life, no one should have to face a mental health crisis alone.”

GIRLS GONE HIKING

Two Events. One Year of Showing Up.

OUR GIVE BACK EVENTS ——

We participate in two AFSP Utah events each year — each with its own team page where you can register, donate and fundraise alongside us.

EVENT 01 - SPRING

UTAH CONSTRUCTION HIKE FOR HOPE

DATE

SATURDAY, MAY 30, 2026

LOCATION

RED BUTTE GARDEN

The Utah Construction Hike for Hope shines a light on a crisis hiding in plain sight. Construction workers die by suicide at 5 times the rate of on-the-job accidents — more than 5,000 lives lost every year, not from falls or equipment, but from stigma and silence.

Girls Gone Hiking is showing up to say that no worker — and no person — should face that battle alone. We hike, we fundraise, and we bring our community's voice to a cause that desperately needs it.

5X

More suicides than jobsite fatalities in construction

5,000+

Construction workers lost to suicide each year

4X

Higher rate than the general population

EVENT 02 - FALL

Salt Lake City Out of the Darkness Walk

DATE

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2026

LOCATION

VETERAN’S MEMORIAL PARK, WEST JORDAN

The Out of the Darkness Walk is one of the most powerful community events of the year — a moment to walk together in remembrance of those we've lost and in solidarity with everyone still fighting.

Held during National Suicide Prevention Month, this walk brings thousands of people together across the country. Girls Gone Hiking walks as a team to close out our year of advocacy and to honor every person who deserves better support than they received.

685

Utahns die by suicide every year on average — nearly 2 every day

#2

Leading cause of death for Utahns ages 10–44 as of 2023

54%

Higher suicide rate than the national average (21.9 vs 14.2 per 100,000)

Both events have separate team fundraising pages through AFSP. When you join our team, you get your own personal fundraising page — so you can raise money from your own network and track your impact. Here's how to get started:
