📍 Pipeline Overlook via Rattlesnake Gulch — Millcreek Canyon
🥾 Moderate | ~4 miles | ~790 ft Elevation Gain
⚠️ Parking is limited at the trailhead. Two start times have been scheduled so groups can cross paths and open up spots — please plan accordingly and carpool when possible.
Join Girls Gone Hiking™ as we celebrate our very first birthday on the trail that started it all.
One year ago, this is where it began. Rattlesnake Gulch was the trail that brought us together — and there's no better place to mark a full year of showing up, lacing up, and doing hard things side by side. We're heading back to where it all started, and we want you there with us.
The route kicks off with a signature booty-burner — nearly all of the elevation gain packed into the first 0.75 miles as you climb out of the canyon and onto the Pipeline Trail. Once you crest that ridge, the hard work gives way to sweeping, unobstructed views of the Salt Lake Valley that stretch as far as the eye can see. It's the kind of view that reminds you exactly why we do this.
We'll move at a supportive group pace, cheer each other up the steep stuff, and celebrate every step of this milestone morning.
✨ What to Expect:
Steep, rewarding climb through Rattlesnake Gulch
Gorgeous panoramic views of the Salt Lake Valley from the Pipeline Overlook
2–2.5 hours on trail
A whole lot of love, laughs, and GGH birthday energy 🎂
Bring water, snacks, and layers — April mornings in Millcreek can be crisp. Trail conditions may include mud or rocky sections depending on recent weather. Note that April 11 is an odd day — dogs are welcome off-leash! 🐾
Please arrive a few minutes early for your chosen wave. Registration and signed waiver are required prior to attending.

📍 Thurston Peak via Great Western Trail — Layton, UT
🥾 Hard | ~14.8 miles | 5,249 ft Elevation Gain | Summit: 9,706 ft
This is not your average Saturday hike — and that's exactly the point.
Join Girls Gone Hiking™ for one of the most ambitious and rewarding trails we've tackled yet. Thurston Peak is the highest point in both Davis and Morgan Counties, and the Great Western Trail route earns every bit of that summit. This is a full-day commitment: long miles, serious elevation, and the kind of physical and mental challenge that reminds you what you're truly capable of.
The trail begins with a gradual climb through dense scrub oak and switchback after switchback before opening up to ridgeline views that stretch across the entire Wasatch Front. Alpine meadows, wildflowers, and sweeping sightlines toward the Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island, and Morgan Valley greet you as you push higher. The final stretch to the summit requires a short off-trail scramble — and then you're on top of the world.
Early start time is intentional. With nearly 15 miles and 5,000+ feet of gain, we want every advantage the morning gives us. Come prepared, come committed, and come ready to dig deep alongside an incredible group of women.
✨ What to Expect:
A serious, full-day effort — plan for 9–11 hours on trail
Relentless switchbacks giving way to stunning ridgeline and alpine meadow terrain
360° summit views of the Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island, and Morgan Valley
A short off-trail scramble to the true summit
Small, committed group energy — this one will bond you for life 🏔️
Come fueled and ready: bring plenty of water, high-energy snacks, trekking poles, and layers. April conditions at elevation may include snow or mud — trail runners or sturdy hiking boots required. No shade in upper sections, so sun protection is a must.
This hike is best suited for those with prior endurance hiking experience. Please assess your fitness honestly before registering.
